Multi-monitors?

hey guys

i'm actually thinking about doing 3 across, with a 4th directly above the center monitor.

i use multi monitors for things like, say, typing a paper on the main monitor, while having a draft, or my sources open on the other, or simply surfing the web in full screen, while keeping my im, or outlook open at a glance, and having, say, a movie or tv open on another screen

that, and my little brother let me install his copy of adobe premiere, which kicks ***, so it can only help for crazy shit like that.

and as for games, they don't need multi-monitor support. I'm using a single ati rage 4-screen video card to control all 4 monitors, so it can emulate a single display and internally feed it to 4 monitors, as well as having all sorts of tweaks for multi-monitor stuff.

and i AM buying all the monitors seperately. those pics are from the manufacturer of the stand i'm gonna get, and of course they're gonna demo the stand WITH monitors on it........

for those who've never tried, you'd actually be suprised at how many of your day-to-day computer tasks get done soooooo much faster and easier with multi-monitors. think about something as simple as copying and pasting without ever having to switch windows, or hit alt-tab, or moving files and folders around, or managing huge lists of mp3's and organizing your hard drive, or making cd's, etc. EVERYTHING is faster, period.

x2 for the practical stuff.

splitting the image to 4 monitors and trying to watch a movie or play a game would be ****.

I have two monitors at work and I love it. It is much easier than just one. I can't really see having 3 helping much, but my two works out great
ditto! just wish they were size matched better... Even with the two screens and layering windows, I am constantly toggling to get my customers the info they need.

and x2 on making video editing MUCH easier-- its nice being able to identify in full screen the vids, pics etc that you are tryingh to import.. maybe it makes me lazy...but I LIKE IT!

Now I have to figure out how to get my IT guy to add a third! LOL

I hate going home and only having one monitor... C'Mon Santa Clause--

alt-tab is fine......

but being able to keep multiple windows open, large enough to be read, while working in another is SOOOOO nice

it takes multi-tasking to a whole new level

and if you do things like video or photo editing, it's even better, because you can have your work full-screen on one window, and have your tools, etc. on another window, out of the way

i was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of alt+tab. i run 6 windows minimum at work on one monitor and dont have any problems
uh huh! But, read my comment again... I'm lazy! LOL! And I just want to have more monitors! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i think i'm just gonna do 3 monitors, horizontal

most practical setup, plus if i get a plasma or lcd flatscreen some day, i'll be able to hook it up with the 4th dvi hookup for watching hd movies

youll need a DVI-I to DVI-D converter, i think thats what its called, thats what i use to hook up to plasma
