Multi-monitors?

After christmas, when the prices go down a bit, i'm wanting to do a new computer configuration with matching 19" lcd's.

Which of these 3 different orientations would you go with?

the classic 3-monitor horizontal. it's tried and true, i've personally done it before and loved it, albeit with 3 completely mismatched crt monitors, that all had different sizes/refreshes/resolutions and caused one hell of a headache.....

4-monitor horizontal.. at first it seems like a great idea, because it's the huge horizontal workspace of the 3-monitor horizontal, but with a bonus 4th monitor..... it will require actual head turning to see all 4 monitors, it's an AWFUL long way to move the cursor to get from the far left to the far right, and you lose having a 'center' monitor for the main desktop. Plus it's pretty much useless for games/movies, cause you'd have to completely disfigure the picture to make it fit

the quad-screen 2x2 setup.... doesn't even have as much horizontal workspace as the 3-screen setup, and would be awful tall on my desk, but after the work is done, it's be AWESOME for games, and watching tv/movies, since it's esentially a huge 40" square screen so movies could span all 4.......

what do you guys think? i asked this on a computer forum, but they're too busy playing WoW or something to give me any thoughts.

just go with the three across. that 2x2 would be awkward...seems like a reipe for a sore neck. and 4 wide? do you have a desk that big? i guess go for it is you think youll use it, but im plenty happy with dual monitors.

I say go for the 3. Better for watching movies and tv then 4, as you have the center display, and better than the 4square *UNLESS* and thats a big unless, you can find 4 monitors with a reeeeeeeeeeeeeallllllly thin casing, otherwise having a big black cross in the middle of your screen is gonna drive ya nuts. At work they have a 4 screen display like you showed, in the ops/monitoring room, and for work its ok, but I can't imagine gaming or watching anything on it as is. But if it were a thin casing, that'd own.
