multi alternators

im might buy a festiva and run 2 alts in it how is this done correctly ..obviously they will share a common ground ...is all i have to do is just run the positive of the 2nd alt to my distrobution block for the amps or is there going to be a problem im not forseing

i said f the festiva ...and baught a 1975 lincoln mk4

but i think i still want 2 alts so do i just common ground both alts (as theres no way around it ) and just run the pos from 1 all the way to my amps and my pump (you heard me ill be installing bounce)

What voltage are you running to "bounce"? Some hydralic pumps run off of 20+ volts. If this is what you are doing, then you will need the same type of batteries and charging system (alternator). If this is the case, then yes, run one alt for your 12V system, then run the 2nd alt to the higher voltage charging system.

If you are using air bags that also run off of 12 volts (12-14.8v) then I would tie the outputs of the 2 12 volt alternators together. You will also have multiple 12 volt batteries, which should be paralleled together. SO, all batteries and alternators will be paralleled together.

1 battery in the trunk, and you want hydrolics? If you were to have even one pump I would recomend buying 2 batteries for the trunk! If you want a full fledged 4 pump all around bounce then you'll want about 8 batteries, and the pumps cost like 1 grand to 2 grand! Hope you know how to pull money out of thin air or you might end up sitting on a large credit card debt!

im pprobably going to install a 2 pump air bag setup so i dont need a rack of batteries ...also who said i was on welfare .....wheres all the concern for the $$$ im throwing ...as it sits im in the buying stage for this car while i finsh other car who builds a project car with no money ???

well, you still know that you'll have to rig up mounting brackets for the alternator. Most likely a custom job...and make sure it works correctly in the belt setup. good luck, peace
