Well because people have a habit of post dumping, or just straight up shitting in threads for no good reason. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Thats pretty much what mine will look like once i raise some more money. except mine will have a layer of black v3 over it. My car is black and it would look better. I dont think 75 sq ft will cover more than my door panels and my trunk.
How much quieter is it in there? how many layers?
I have about 3 layers on the doors. 2 in the trunk. 4 on the floor. 1 on the back of every piece of vinyl or plastic piece of dash i could remove. It makes a huge difference. Before I did it, closing my doors was like closing the doors on a 1980 Chevy Work Truck. (or soemthing like that, you get the idea). After, it was like closing the doors on a brand new cadillac. Nothing in the car rattles and the only thing on the outside that rattles are the windshield wipers. There is still a little wind noise but butyl mat is not designed for high freqs like wind. That is what V4 is for. I couldn't tell you if the system is louder now because I upgraded the system at the same time I did the deadener so I have never heard it without the mat. Definitly worth the investment. It makes your car feel and sound like the inside of a luxury car.

yeah. like i said, my car is a tin can with a fart pipe. Well not really, but the exhaust is definately loud. And being a 2.4 instead of lil import 1.8L motors, the exhaust is tat much louder. At about 2700 RPM, it starts to get loud. at 3k its annoying. at 3200 your head explodes... then at 4k its quiet as a mouse. Unfortunately the way the gear ratios are, 70-80 mph (NORMAL cruising speeds) are right in that 2800-3200 RPM range. So most of the trip is bumpin like hell to drown it out. I wanted to just do the trunk.. but then im like, well the door panels are noisy too (thin metal 2 door, long doors)... and then im like, well aluminum backing is teh ugly, so ill put down some black v3 too, cuz the car is black already... im gonna put at least 2 layers in the trunk and doors, with a layer or 2 of v3 on top, then use the rest on the ****** hump and under the drver's side where the exhaust runs.

Many people have said NOT to use a degreaser as it has additives and chemicals in it which will not help the adhesion, and will make the surface less adhesable. I have been told denaturized rubbing alcohol is the best way to go. That or water and soap.
But let me know how the castrol goes, as I have gallons of it.
I know about degreasers, which is why i was going to go over it with brake cleaner. That stuff is IIRC made of acetone, xylene, and some other alcohol. Dries real fast too.
