I'll keep it short and simple. Vehicle: '06 G35 sedan

1. Had HKS muffler on my car. Sold it to get catback, holding off on that for now.

2. Currently have stock muffler

3. Wanting ot remove muffler and install a pipe in place of it.

Just have a couple questions. Would I notice any loss in gas mileage, torque, horsepower, or anything else (other than weight)?

I'm not worried about the sound as I drove without a muffler and it was the same as the HKS till about 5k rpm where it got a little louder and a little raspy. I don't really go beyond 4k rpm unless I need to pass a slow driver.

It's not comletely stock. I have a slightly less restrictive midpipe using the coupe's. I have intake if that makes any difference, doubt it though. Main thing I have that would make a difference is a 5/16" intake manifold spacer.

well if the computer adjusts for less backpressure and richens up the air/fuel mixture a fuzz you might get a little more power out of it.

I still can't picture a nice ride like that with a straight pipe though LOL

if you remove the stock muffler, you will more than likely get better gas mileage (maybe 1 or 2 if your lucky), you will gain a little hp, and lose torque.....im not 100% sure on this, but this is how it is with my mustang. With the hp gain and torque loss you probably will not tell a difference in performance as it wont be much i wouldn't think... hope this helps

I have read about a little loss in torque. I can't recall how noticeable it was, if at all from the video above. It may have been minimal if I did notice a loss. I could probably deal with it, but losing gas mileage is definitely not an option. I'm glad I'm getting close to 21 mpg right now with mainly highways (about 65-70% of the time).

there is still a cat on it correct ? if so this acts like a muffler itself.replacing the stock muffler with straight pipe will not have any side effects and probably wont produce that much noise.if it was mine,i would do it.if you have drone after that, you could allways add a resonator

that's a //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif to be doing in a neighborhood mister.. i would have thought you knew better than that..leave stock.
Lol...yeah, wasn't too bright, but I had my cousin recording and a friend at the other end and I made sure people were not walking around, still dumb though, I'd have to agree.

Yep, still got the cats. I'm more than likely going to do it, just need to get a pipe and one of the ends shaped like the midpipe. Don't think it would be a good idea to just have no muffler....would be easier to get pulled over, haha.
