Much difference between BX1000D and BX1500D

i have a Hifonics BX1000D on a 15"L7 and i was thinkin about upgrading to a BX1500D and i was wondering if there would be much difference in the 2? is it worth the upgrade?

I went from a bx1000, to a bx1500, I could see the sub moving more, but couldnt really hear much difference...

Yea, I dont think the 500 watts would be noticable.

Also, isn't 3dB about twice as loud ot the human ear?

And the BX1500 has been benched by someone on SD and produced somethin like 1378 @ 1ohm so the difference wouldnt even be that huge.

No, it takes about 10db to be perceived as twice as loud to the ear.

The difference in 500watts and what you would hear would depend on your sub and the box it is in. Some companies have graphs that show how excursion increases as the power increases and this depends on what frequency they are using. For example A balanced sub in the right enclosure in a perfect world with an Xmax of lets say 30mm would work like this:

With a 35hz signal

500 watts would produce 10mm of excursion

1000 watts would produce 20mm of excursion

1500 watts would produce 30mm of excursion

Some subs depending on enclosure will reach xmax at 50% of rms and anything over that is just slamming the suspension.

Overall I would not mess with an upgrade from the 1000 to the 1500, I do not think that there would be that much more output with the additional 500watts since you are are already running around the RMS of the sub. Now if you were only running 500 then I think the additional 500 would definately make a noticable difference. IMO

Well I had 1000w running to my dd3515d and now I have 1700w or more going to it and I notice a huugge difference. I cant have it at near the same volume that I did before. It hits so much harder and louder.
