Mtx V.s. Kicker?

Heard a setup with 2 15 " 9500s off of 3000 watts yesterday at a competition just pull a 146... Guy works at a local car audio shop around here and really supposed to be knowing what hes doing.. I wasnt really impressed.. Especially considering I pulled a 142.5 with 1 15 L7" on just 900 watts in a daily driving box.. His box was tuned to 47 herts and he had over 3 times as much power as me..

that guy was doing something wrong then ive done almost that number with my two 12's off a dying Sh!tty audiobahn amp

Local shop here has 6k going to a jackhammer in an escalde and did iirc, a 141 at the local db drag. Went to best buy comp to show off their shit and felt stupid as shit.

I do just about the exact same number with the L7's as I do with the Solo X's. Honestly...there is no way that MTX 9500 can keep up with the L7 SPL wise. All you have to do with the L7 is put it in the right box...just make sure you have a low group delay and it'll sound good also. Many people tend to ignore group delay in their box design...hence the sub doesn't respond well.

I'd take the L7 any day of the week...especially for the price. I could help you guys with the box design also if you need.

I do just about the exact same number with the L7's as I do with the Solo X's. Honestly...there is no way that MTX 9500 can keep up with the L7 SPL wise. All you have to do with the L7 is put it in the right box...just make sure you have a low group delay and it'll sound good also. Many people tend to ignore group delay in their box design...hence the sub doesn't respond well.
I'd take the L7 any day of the week...especially for the price. I could help you guys with the box design also if you need.

L7 all the way! I have one 12 l7 and with a autotek mmachine 1200 rms! I hit 141.5 dbs like two weeks ago! I can't wait to get a kicker solo x

all I know is I LOVE my 12" 9500 it hits hard, Ive got a pretty solid car and its tearing it apart and if u buy the sub off ebay u can get them for 350$ shipped, Im waiting on buying another one until I get my box tuned just right because the box I have now doesnt hit low enough for me....anyways 9500 with mtx7801 amp sounds amazing imo....one of the guys at a kicker store I went to had 4 8" L7s inside his truck, fully dynamatted like tripple thick all the best components and stuff and my single 12 hit harder louder and nearly as clean as the L7s they just couldnt hit the low end like mine would

i hit 141.6 with a single 12 MTX 8500 powered by a MTX 7801(800RMS) tuned at 37hz.....if you go with the 9500 that sun of a gun is power hungry....with the right amount of power and a good box it will out perform a L7 in a comp..but youll be payin alot more then going with a L7....if you got the money get 9500 if money is a issue then get a L7

i say go bigger then a 7801...800RMS your just pissin off the 9500s hunger for power

There are only a small number people here who have used both. I am one of them and I say it all depends on what you want. If you are looking for SPL then the L7 will own the 9500 any day of the week. If you are looking for a street beater then the 9500 will own the L7 any day of the week. Both are loud, but the 9500 outperforms the L7 in sound quality any day. So its easy, if you just wanna put up a number, then go with L7. If you want a street beater thats loud and sounds good, then go with the 9500.

PS. Just so everyone knows, both of these woofers are GREAT choices. Picking one over the other just depends on what your looking for, but both are very awesome woofers.

Explain. I just got my 12 06 L7 hooked up and im very impressed it pounds very good. What is a low group delay. I have a 2.6@32hz net box. I want to get it metered. I would think its 142 or somewhere around there. It dosnt seem to be as loud as when i first hooked it up its about 12hrs later. Any ways do u think that box is letting my sub perform to its capabilities.
