MTX DVC 12" 9500 Help!

So currently I am running a Kicker ZX1500.1 to my MTX 9500 @ 2ohms and after 10 Minutes of playing it I start to notice a weird smell. I am not sure if its the voice coil glue burning or what do I need to do?!

You need to turn the amplifiers gain way down. The zx1500 is conservatively rated to make 1500 watts rms at 2 ohms, and generally those amps really make around 1750 watts rms. the subwoofer is only rated to handle 1000 watts rms. use these instructions to set the amplifier to make 1000 watts rms.

Thank you, and I was wondering if I should go ahead upgrade to the Orion HCCA 12" instead any ideas or reviews?

Compared the MTX 9500 to Orion HCCA

imo get that 9500 reconed with a custom recone. from what I've heard those 9500s are some nice motors but the soft parts aren't the best.

It's only a 2 layer coil is the issue. They're a good sounding woofer, but they don't really take a ton of power.

If you have to throw 1500W continuous into a woofer MTX 95 is a poor choice.

I put in an orion 15" HCCA not too long ago into a nissan pathfinder with a custom box tuned to 35hz. It was pretty sweet, popped the nissan badge right of the tailgate.

yeah right ive put 2500rms to each one of my 95s with daily use and ive even had 3k on one and it took it faithfully for

heres one taking 142 volts lol


the hccas are amazing to me also but imo 9500 for top brand subs anyday
