OK, but how many of you have owned both?

I have owned a 12" W7 and a 12" 9500 at the same time........

The 9500 is very picky about boxes, point blank, but when you get it right, it's a great sub. Louder than the W7, and once I found the right box, SQ was almost as good.

But their advertising is very misleading.....

Yeah stratus is right, very very picky. I personally would not say it is louder than a W7 though, nor sound as good. I am going out on a limb, but I think they changed the 9500s from the very first ones out because when they first came out, I got one and hated it, but recently I installed several and they were much better, or maybe I just got a fluke sub. I had the 15" 9500 and a 10" W7 though so that could have something to do with it.

Kicker imo would beat it in SPL from my experience with the two. Personally, I dont like how either of the subs sound, but if I had to, Kicker in a vented box would be my choice.

lol...that is why I see what John ivey was talking about, some people swear their Sony Xplods sound best...lol Car Audio has to be one of the toughest industries out there!

Your signature is one of the reasons why into this car stereo stuff and it still is. As you can note, its the reason of this thread. I just might say F it and go with 2 S10L7 in max rec. enclosure, its so tuff to decide after seeing that 10w6v2 come apart like that. All that money for what? Foam Surround? sheeesh!
