Mt 18"

Anyways.....for a daily driver sub, there are better options than an MT in my opinion. Not saying you "can't"....but something like an XXX or SX are far more practical.

So an mt is overkill eh? Nothing wrong with that. But 10 cubic feet... That would probably be fibberglassing my entir hatch. How much is a 15" mt gonna take, 15" xxx?

A MT isn't just overkill.....but not really the best sub in their line-up to pick for daily driving. It was designed to mainly be a SPL sub. For daily driving, generally an XXX or SX is a better option.

Couldn't i buil like a 6 cubicfoot enclosure, and poly fill it?
LOL.....no. Polyfill is used to help with enclosures that are barely too small, or too small for your tastes. You can add some polyfill to partially make up for that little bit of difference.

You can't build an enclosure half the required size and expect polyfill to make up the difference. Doesn't work like that. Especially in a ported enclosure, where there are other factors to take into account.

I agree with squeak up until the 6 cube box part. He is definitely correct that polyfill shouldn't be used to make up for 2-3 cubic foot. However, I put my MT 18 in a 6 cube net enclosure with 90 square inches of port tuned to 35 Hz and it is by far and away the most impressive (as far as output goes) system I have had the pleasure of listening to. I agree though that you will definitely want something else if you are going to listen to music other than rap and bass tracks, it just doesn't do well on rock and other easy listening music. Ideally you should have a good 7-10 cubes for this 18, but I got my recommendation directly from Steve Meade who is running his (4) MT 18's in a 20 cube box. Just some food for thought.

How does it sound, SQ wise? While listening to rap only that is. And you did the 146.3 wit hthe PA amp that does 170w bridged to 4ohms? lol?

my XXX 15 sounds awsome in a 4.5 cu ft tuned to 32hz
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif Okay, awsome as in loud, or awsome as in sound quality. I want to get loud, if sq has to suffer so be it.:goodorbad

I have 9 cubic feet. Should i do 2 15's or 1 18. No recomandations, just a simple answer to a simple question.
If 9cuft is enough space to properly house two 15's, and you have the power for two 15's.....two 15's would be the way to go. All things equal, the 15's would have more linear displacement.

you dont need an XXX you could really care less about sq, just go buy like 5 sony p5s and be done with it

Ive found in my vehicle, my 18" MT's like smaller boxes. I ran a 18 cube box first, but now run a 12 cube box. The 12 cube box is by far louder than the 18.

As far as sq goes...totally subjective. Both my friends, and I think my subs sound great with any type of music. Granted I have to turn the non-fader down to practically 0 to listen to rock... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Welp, obviously, I am wrong, and people contradict theirselves around here . . . I was just stating what I have researched THROUGH THIS FORUM BY READING! I am not putting down this forum, because it is a great place to get information, but I have seen what I posted earlier in this thread throughout this place. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Not trying to spread lies, just trying to share info. Sorry . . . .
