mp3, thumbdrive, and amp....

Is it possible...that is the question.

After 5 stolen head units, I am looking for an alternative to listen to music.

I have been thinking about this idea for a while now....

First, a simple MP3 player (or one that can read an external thumb drive) to provide the tunes.

Next, we have amp tucked away with rca to the dash.

How could I get the output of a portable MP3 converted over to RCA to feed the amp?

Open to suggestions and thoughts....

just buy a stereo mini plug-to-RCA converter. they sell them at any electronics place. I have heard of one guy in the past who had a jeep and did this with a portable minidisc player. You may not get the highest audio quality without a line-driver but it would definitely work.

sounds good....but i want to bypass any headunit. the head unit controls volume, etc. don't need this capability...want to control volume from mp3 player.

good news is the wife just gave me permission to pursue this. woohoo!

i have a thumbdrive mp3 player //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifits 128mb and expandable with MMC and SD cards

and then run all this to a stock deck with and aux input, which could be added in a non-visable spot
