Moving to a single 15

My box in the Avi.. 2 4 inch areos. TommyK said something about gaining output by using 6 inch areos. I cant do that with 2 12s and still keep my low tuning but I think I could with a single 15. Would it be good for any gain? I might even be able to go 8 inch ports. I could fire them to the side like a SUV. So with 5 cubes what do you guys think? DC is revamping the XL next year and that will be the sub of choice. Or a BLT N2.

1 15 should be able to keep up a 145 on the right power. but 2 12s have more cone area . tommy was probably thinking about adding port area when he mentioned that.

little more explainin never hurts brah //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

what tuning are you trying to keep with the 6" aero's? with the right amount of power on 5 cubes, the XL could easily hit 145.... side firing is a tricky buisness when it comes to the meter, but if dustin is designing the box for you, i dont see there being a problem there

Right now.. around 30.. 2500 rms on tap.

I know it could be higher but I like that tune and it does well in park and pound

with that low of a tune, i dont have to tell you that it will be more difficult than with a 50hz burp box, but that goes without saying... now, is it possible at 30? easily. can every dude out there do it... no. but like i said, with dustin designing your box, i dont forsee any problems... you'll have the power, sub, and box required... just gotta put in the work. from there, it might just take a few tweaks here and there to get 145+, but thats with any new set up.

I'm the same way with my boxes too tho, got my clamshell tuned to mid 30's... even tho if i tuned it in the 50hz, i could easily be above 160... numbers aint everything.

^^^ This.... Part of the way to get higher SPL numbers is by tuning your box closer to the tone you are trying to hit with. Low tuning and low tones take lots of power and cone area to make high numbers. Higher tuning and higher tones take less power and cone area, in general...

With 2500RMS and 2 12's.....you should easily be doing in the mid 140's by now. I have about 1000 going to my 2 old *** PG subs and I'm in the low 140's and tuned to 31hz.
