I keep a lot of stuff in my trunk, so I think I'd like to mount a speaker grill over my sub on my enclosure to protect the driver. I was looking at the large mesh looking grill mounting kits they had at Bestbuy the other day and I noticed that it looked like the depth of the grill (the distance between the mounting rim of the grill and the inside of the grill where it would go over the rubber surround portion of the sub) didn't look deep enough to keep from interferring with the movement of the sub. Does the mounting ring of the grill actuall sit right on the mounting ring of the sub? If so, clearence shouldn't be a problem. But if the mounting ring of the grill mates to the enclosure itself, there's no way it won't interfer with the sub's movement. In this case, would I have to cut a ring out of MDF or plywood as a spacer for the grill?
