Mounting Amps Upside Down??

I am reusing an Alpine 3553 (4 x 35) for my new Polk Audio door speakers and I'm also reusing a PPI PC275 (2 x 75) for my new Bazooka Dual Voice Coil 6.5" passive sub. Does anyone think I would have an issue mounting them upside down under my rear deck in the trunk of my Pontiac G8? I am wondering if the heat they generate will cause them overheat and clip out. Is anyone else mounting their amps upside down?

Don't do it. It will cause a reverse groud fault and the polarity will be negative instead of positive. I'd suggest you mount it on the firewall

You guys do realize this is one the reasons the site has gone to shit right? Because noobs come in with a question and just get BS answers...

To the OP: Mounting an amp upside down has no effect on it's reliability, you'll be fine.

Alright, I will mount my amps upside down. If it causes a problem I will fabricate cloth covered mounting boards and fasten them to the back of the trunk. Thanks, bubbagumper6 for the help.

This same question has been addressed MANY times. There's even a build log where a guy invert flush mounts a pair of Sundown amps in a hardwood covered enclosure.

And besides that, what difference does it make whether you mount the amp upside down or not? As long as it's mounted securely it should be fine. Cooling issues are the worst that could happen, and a fan would solve that.

Common sense is a wonderful thing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

But see even a response like this would have been better than giving him false advice and acting like it's true. I agree he should have done some searching before posting this, but teaching him how to properly find answers is much better than deliberately giving false information.

WHo you calling a noob, noob?

If he took it seriously and mounted on the firewall and believed the other BS fed to him, he probably has no business in CA anyways

Sorry OP.. I hope you didnt mount your amp on the firewall.. I was being a big jerk
