Mounting amplifiers with foam

Ok possibly completely stupid question but I have no space to put my sub amp. So I have this idea of mounting itto my box but I know the rattling will kill the amp.. So... I thought about using a foam kinda like the cheap memory foam bed stuff at walmart and putting it on top of the box, then using a smaller than the amp size piece of wood (plywood) and using a long screw and use the mounting feet to screw down the amp. Basically the amp would be cushioned from the vibration by the foam... Lol thoughts?

Many people mount their amps directly to their boxes and never have an issue. Some people do have problems. If you feel the need, I would just use a piece of rubber under each mounting point, or even some sound deadner would work.

should have the foil side toward the amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

What I have done... Mount your amp to a thin board first. Get a foam noodle "for pools"... With a razor blade cut some half inch or so thick strips the lenght of the board. Put a few strips of those inbetween the mounting board the sub box.

Then screw the amp with mount board down!!!

Works great!

1/4" thick neoprene sheet underneath (sold at craft stores and walmart as "Foamies") then rubber washers for mounting screws so that it is isolated on both sides...no direct vibration. Also don't over tighten the screws as it will compress the rubber washer and take away some effectiveness.

My problem with mounting amps to the enclosure was never about the amp vibrating. It was about making a couple really expensive pieces of your stereo a one stop, grab and run for a thief. Never did care for making their life any easier //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

This is very true but my box is pretty much not gonna leave that trunk unless u cut it lol but it does make it readily available.. I had a civic like that and it got stolen lol so regardless of anything it'd be gone lol
