Hi;
I am putting the subject Amplifier in a Classic Mini. I have decided that the only place with sufficient room is the boot.
I have opted to fit the amp to the underside of the parcel shelf, this way it is partly out of the way.
To fit the amp I have opted to fit it to a piece of 12mm plywood that will in turn be bolted to the underside of the parcel shelf.
Questions:
1. The amp is supplied with 4 self tapping screws that presumably are intended to screw directly to a bulkhead? The screws are longer than the board and may interfere where the board meets the parcel shelf so I was going to use some washers as spacers? Does this make sense?
2. Should I mount the board using some rubber washers between the board and the parcel shelf to provide a bit of shock absorbance? Or should I put some rubber washers between the amp and the board on which I am mounting it?
Below is a pic showing the amp on the board. This will be upside down and the narrow side of the board will be nearest the battery. The power and speaker cables are in situ to show that the power and ground will run around the RH side as you can see it now and around the rear then secured to the rear of the back set to the battery (with a fuse between the amp and battery +) The Gnd cable will be fixed to a bolt in the underside of the parcel shelf. The speaker cables and RCA will run to the left (as you can see it now) towards the rear and then run between the rear seat and rear quarter panel across the companion bin and under the rear seat where the speakers are fitted. The speaker wires may cross the power cable but if the do it will be perpendicular to avoid interference. The RCA cable will likely run alongside the speaker wires. The amp remote will probably follow the power cables but instead of running to the battery side of the car it will run the opposite direction into the passenger cpmpartment and up under the passenger seat to the radio. I may run the RCA the same way?
