Motorycyle Suggestion

How is buell as far as reliability, maintenance, etc? It seems like a saturn to GM kind of thing...
That I am not too sure of. They were pushing them pretty hard at the dealership,so what they would say on it I was hard pressed to believe.

They said they were great, lasted forever and the cost of ownership was pretty low.

If you do take the class, they will offer to sell you the test bikes for pretty cheap. I believe ~2-3K if I remember correctly. That could be a good starter bike too.

seriously... if youre trying to save money go used...
I got both of my ducati's used and they have been both great to me. Just get a used bike checked out before you start riding it.

People like to just ignore the PM's and they can be costly (10k tune-up on my bike was 1,800 bucks).

I like the Sportster 883 much better than the Buell, but is about the same cost as an 03 vs. 07. I am concerned about the weight and other issues.

The Buell advertises 70 mpg....at that price, it wouldn't be a big deal to break even of the course of a year or two.

I'm guessing you put this already, but what is your weight and height?

Really tall and you will hate the buell.

friend of mine is prolly 320lbs or so and hes got a 97 750 katana and a 06 600 katana...its not as funny looking as you would think lol
bullshit, there is no way and hell a 300lb fatty on a street bike is not funny looking //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif:laugh: either that or you are grossly overestimating his weight.

My gf said I was too tall for the buell.
I am ~6" and 175 lbs.
I'm 6' 2" and I'm not too tall for my buell xb9sx. Buell's are small but I'd ride it any day before riding a small sportster. They are a small looking bike for sure, but once you hop on one its suprising how they fit.

I've only had this buell for about 6 months but haven't had any maintenance issues, its an 05 with around 6k miles now.

Oh, and the non blast older buells are basically harley sportster motors, but with steeper cams for more top end performance. So expect the same for reliability.

it's a sport bike frame with a HD Motor... all made in the usa..
its an HD frame too!

buell : HD as Saturn : GM

Buell : HD as mercury : ford

they are the same company, just a different line of bikes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

flip, really take a look at the suzuki SV650. its a nice 650cc V-twin bike that seems like it would fit your needs perfectly. its sort of sporty looking, but you sit up in a cruiser-esque position.

My friends brother in law has a Honda cbr. He looks weird when he rides, he's nearly 400lbs.
