Motorycyle Suggestion

In the recent gas price increases, I have considered getting a motorcycle to drive to work during the spring/summer/fall.

I do not want a crotch rocket type of deal. I am not a go-fast kind of guy as I only do 70 on the interstate.

I am looking for something in the $5,000 range that can travel the highway (not interstate) at ~ 60mph. I want something pretty easy and comfortable to ride. It also must have some sort of storage compartment to hold my lunch.

I don't know anything about motorcycles and my one attempt to ride one ended in fail. It was a crotch rocket kind of deal and turning was not very intuitive.

Any suggestions?

I dunno if you would be interested but I am probably going to try and get a burgman scooter this year, not sure if I am going to get the 400 or 650 yet but I have been researching them for about a year and people seem to have no issues riding them on the highway.

I would like a sport bike but they are just too uncomfortable and the whole 'rock and roll' harley thing does not really fit me. Plus when I was younger we used to whip around on mopeds and honda elites so these are kind of a step up from those now that I am an adult.

There is even a couple of people with subwoofers installed under the seats so you don't have to miss your thump if you dont want //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I actually like the Harley Sportster very much...is this a boke you can put $10k/yr on?

I won't resell it...just junk it when new technology rolls around that is more economical.

The other motorcycle I rode was a 750 and I found it very heavy....but I am wondering if it was more because of it being a sport bike.

The basic issue was turning. From my understanding, those harleys turn more like a standard bicycle and less "lean to turn"

My gf also mention buell, but they look too much like sport bikes.

What is considered high mileage for a bike? These bikes all have >20k, whereas I will put 20k on it in a summer driving back and forth to work.
