motor in or out????

ok i have 2 ten inch d4vc kicker l5's wired to 1ohm on my soundstream rubi 1000. my ? is, if i put my motors out can it hurt them? i have the 180 switch or 160 on my amp, i think if i put the motor out i have to flip the switch.or so i read. also whats the difference between the motor in / out? i put them with the mmotor out and i cant hear the deep bass like befor, but now all my **** rattles like a mo'fo.any info as to what i sould do?. btw my box is a small pos, so im not sure what would help it.Thanks.

Well heres the thing. When you have a box designed/built the displacement of the subwoofers is factored into the design to get the tuning/air space correct. If you had the box designed for subwoofers in then decide you want to invert mount them (motors out) that increases the air space inside the box therefore messing up the tuning.

Thats why it sound different. can it hurt anything now? probably not But if you want to leave them inverted and have the best output your gonna need to get a enw box designed.

That rattling you here is probably some type of mechanical noise which is going to happen when you invert your subs.

Thanks that makes sense, i did have them inverted but i just switched them back to where they should be a lil while ago.im just gonna wait 4 my other box.
