More useful: Router vs. Jig Saw

I need to buy a jig or router pretty soon. Got a couple of boxes up coming soon. I just want to know which would be more useful? I want to know so I know my money will be well spent.

neither is more important than the other, but i voted for jigsaw because most people only think the router is good for holes, and you can make a shady hole with a jigsaw.

I voted for a jigsaw. More versitile than a router. I use my jigsaw on almost every project that involves wood I used my router maybe 2 times in the last 30 projects. Of course of all tools a good, high torque, long battery life cordless drill is the most important.

no. for some reason i thought a router was something on the expensive jigs or sumthin. I never really looked into it since i just go the first 29.99 jig that i saw.

i only use the router to make circle cuts and round edges. and i only use the jigsaw to cut curves on panels and do like the corners on the slot ports. so id say i use them both evenly since i have them, but if i were you, i would go with the jigsaw.

a router is used ALOT in any type of wood working. if you have a table with an ogee edge, or a nice looking cabinet, it has been "routered".

i voted a router, i rarely use a jig saw, only of i have to cut a out a square for a square terminal. other wise its a router with a jasper jig.

Since i got a second router and circle jig i barely ever use the jigsaw anymore.
