More Power

Alright, I have these 2 Jensen Subwoofers http://cgi.ebay.com/JENSEN-XS1110BP-10-BANDPASS-BOX-NIB-525-WATTS_W0QQitemZ5814348507QQcategoryZ32823QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemand I just bought this amp http://www.mycarjams.com/car_audio/hazel/detail/PYPB336GX I already have a Jensen CD3720 CD Player and 2 Jensen speakers. The 2 jensen speakers are in the back right now but I'm taking them out and putting them in the doors, so it will be a 4 speaker system (The 2 subs in the trunk and the 2 speakers in the front). I was wondering what I should do to get the most power out of my amp and my subs. Plez help.

You can start redeeming yourself by buying some quality sound deadener and setting up your car right... then wire it properly, etc. That will make the stuff you have sound as good as possible, abd you'll be ready to upgrade when it's time. DOn't skimp on the basics though, they make a huge difference. I actually did all my deadening before installing the good system, and it even made the stock GMC system sound a lot better.

Replace them.lol

Seriously now, why did you buy such cheap stuff??

Oh well nevermind.

To get the best out of what you have use the Pyramid amp to power the two Jensen speakers in the doors and set the highpass filter around 100HZ.

The amp you bought, the Pyramid PB-336GX has an RMS rating of 40 watts RMS x2 at 4ohms and 120 watts RMS x1 Bridged at 4 ohms.

This amp is not suitable for powering a pair of subwoofers for one it is not 2ohm stable when bridged so when you go to hook up your subs you will find that the amp shuts off when you try to crank it, now you could wire the subs in series for an 8ohm load but then you would only have a total of 80 watts RMS to power the pair which is simply not enough. The amp will however do fine powering the Jensen speakers you are going to put in the doors.

Now for the subs, for the best possible sound out of them you will need to remove them from those shitty bandpass enclosures and put them in a properly built box, you could use a pre built dual sealed 10 enclosure with decent results or you could build/ have someone build for you a nice ported box tuned around 35 hz. Do not buy a pre built ported enclosure, the tuning of the pre built enclosures is terribly high and will kill the subs output not to mention the build quality will be questionable at best.

To power these subs I suggest you look for a cheap class D that puts out around 500 watts RMS at 2ohms.

The Kenwood KAC8152D will give you 550 watts RMS at 2ohms at can be found for around 150 bucks.

After that get an amp install kit with a minimum power wire size of 4 gauge and 60 amps of fusing, you don't need to get the most popular or expensive kit out there just make sure you get something with a beefy enough power wire and don't forget to upgrade your battery's ground wire to the fender.

Hey i got a question. The setup right now is the 2 stock speakers in the front, the 2 jensens in the back, and the 2 jensen subs in the back. It sounds pretty loud since its in a saturn lol but I was wondering if I take the 2 stock speakers out of the front, replace them with the jensens, and run the subs off the amp in the back, if the subs would get more power than they do now???? because the cd player is 50 watts X 4 split up between 6 speakers. But then i'll have 4 speakers and an amp. All I have are the 2 subs, the 2 speakers, and the cd player, and i have no money to buy any other speakers or amps or anything else expensive beacause everyone hear says that i bought crap. I just bought the amp becuase i wanted the subs to sound louder than they do now. I'm not looking for like a competition system or anything, I just want to work with the stuff I have and learn the basics. Thankz.
-Those subs need a minimum of 75 watts RMS each to even work properly, powering off the cd player or the tiny amp you have will not give you the desired bass you want

-The Jensen speakers would be better off in the front of the car rather then the back, you want the concert in front of you not behind.

- The power output of the Jensen cd player is actually only 15 watts RMS x4, the peak power rating the manufacturers give is usless and is only put there to make the product look more appealing, you always need to find the RMS rating and match it up with the RMS rating of the speakers, they don't need to match exactly so long as they are reasonably close.

For the best possible sound with the speakers you have, use the Pyramid amp to power the Jensens in the front (front stage) use the CD player to power the factory rear speakers (rear fill) and beg/ borrow/steal or kill (not really lol) so you can get a proper sub amp.

All you need to come up with is about 150 bucks to get a decent amp and you have three months untill summer is here.

Welcome to the addiction, friend; Don't be discouraged by the harsh posts.

Here's what's true:

Use the Pyramid amp for the front speakers.

Purchase an amp for the subwoofers.

Profile makes a good cheap amp I'm told, and a prebuilt sealed enclosure for those tens will run you around fifty bucks.

The amp wiring can be had for another 25 bucks or so.

Expect to spend a bit of money, but to be honest; Buy the good stuff, because if you don't, you'll just end up with leftovers nobody wants to buy - you will be upgrading for the rest of eternity one way or another, might as well skip the little stuff.

The pyramid amp is rated at 40x2 at 4 ohms and 60x2 at 2 ohms stereo. It will help out some small speakers, but it's not going to do much for your subs.
Something like the Profile HA700m would do a good job for about $80.
Thats not too shabby for 80bucks, I'll back you up on that reccomendation with a big X2.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Alright say i power the 2 jensens with the pyramid amp and wire the amp in to the battery and all that stuff, get rid of the stock speakers and i buy another amp to power the subs can i just do a quick plug in to the pyramid amp??

I don't understand what you are asking.

Alright one more question.......so if i have the 2 jensen speakers in the front an the 2 subs in the trunk(connect the amp to the subs), will the subs have more power than they do with the setup now. (which is the 2 stock speakers in the front, the 2 jensen speakers in the back and the 2 subs in the trunk)??? all i wanna know is that i didnt pay 60 bucks for nothing lol
