would it be better to have more port area but less net volume .....

port dia. - 6

gross vol 4.014

net vol 3.785

port volume .229

port area 28.274

port length 13.988

or more net volume but less port area.

port dia. - 8

gross vol 4.014

net vol 3.025

port volume 1.018

port area 50.265

port length 35.121

box dimensions 14.25h x 30w x 21 length tuned to 33 hertz

.087 speaker displacement (didnt calculate displacement w/ the port board yet)

For a kicker S12L7

I'd say look around and confirm you can get stronger subs that will work if you blow your SA's. If you have options, go for it! Get an amp with lots of power for future flexibility and then see...

Pull the speakers and check them with a DMM (Digital Multi Meter)for the acceptable ohm loads. Did you use an inline capacitor for the tweeter at all. Did your amplifier go into protect at all...

No need. If it's a 4ohm DVC, then it should be wired to 2 ohms at the enclosure terminals. That would verify that the coils are good, and the wiring is correct. If it is, it's something...

First of all you would want to verify that it works. Next, don't expect to get much out of it. There's a rather finite life expectancy on electronics and that unit looks to be rather old style...
