more bass

the EQ and X-over will give you the ability to "boost" the signal in a specified range, but I doubt it will help your bass woes. If your amp(s) isn't giving your sub(s) enough power, or you don't have enough wooferage, you will probably have to upgrade. Imagine a 400 lb guy trying to climb a 8-foot fence(thats your system), now you get a 140lb guy(EQ or X-Over) to give him a "boost", chances are the little guy can get the big guy over, but its gonna be real sloppy, and probably break the fence and some bones. EQ's are designed to flatten out the response curve and do some fine tune tweaking for personal tastes, Caps are used good for holding heavy doors open, and X-overs split freq's into different sections and send those signals to the amps/speakers. If you let us know what you're banging, we can help you better.
