More Bass From 6x9's

I have two Polk Audio Ex Series 6x9's amplified by a Coustic Power Logic 160 watt amplifier. They sound good for the way Ive got them hooked up and are really clear but I would like more bass from them and get more of my voice/ tremble sound from my doors. Im going to build a box that combines them both into one ( one reason, Its hard to drive setting crammed up into the steering wheel, and two the boxes that the come in have about had it) Is this a good idea? Dont know much about 6x9s but what would it sound like in a ported box? Thanks:p:

while a ported box would get you more bass I'm not sure how big a box -- or how low to tune for those drivers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif -- do you want more for deeper bass or *more* bass? Why not just get a subwoofer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ?

Just get 8s, if you really want you treble coming from up front as you say.
yea what he said //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif -- If you can fit 4 8s in the rear deck that would be sweet lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif almost wouldn't need subs then... but a 15 wouldn't hurt to cover 40 or 50 hz on down //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

they dont make 6x9s like they used to,back in the day they had huge magnets and offered alot of bass - I never see that anymore since the invention of the 6.5" comp

which has little bass very often and needs a SUB

im sad lol

I dont have a clue what the watt rating is for these 6x9s but they have pretty good size magnets on them it says EX 692 on the back on the speaker. Yea I could get some 8's but that would take the fun out of it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif How would you go about making a ported box for a 6x9? Im looking for deeper bass I just wanna see what I can get out of a 6x9 for the fun of it. My amp may be a little small truefully, but oh well. Im gonna try on a box this weekend ill be sure to post some pics of it, Maybe i can get the mirror to vibrate from a 6x9 that would be something, lol.

How do you figure? 8's sound like more fun than bynines to me.

How would you go about making a ported box for a 6x9?
The same way you'd make one for anything else.

I've seen 6.5s do it, so I'm sure ported 6X9's shouldn't bee too hard.

Well,

Ive about got my box built for my 6x9s. Should I go ported or make a sealed enclosure. Diminsions are 4' wide 18" high bottom width is 7" top is 3" it gows up from bottom 10" then slopes off to meet the 3in top piece.

Yes, there was a video with a wall of 6x9s, forgot the score. 151 maybe?

Are you putting both 6x9s in the same chamber? feed them the same signal.

I had a set of JBL T545 3-way bynines back in the day. Anyone remember those? Huge oversized one-piece basket, frame, grill and all. They were rated 100w RMS but 100w peak, too. I fed 'em 60w apiece and they sounded freggin' outstanding.

I have a set of these put up in the closet and amped on 70w apiece they sang pretty sweetly themselves.

It's not hard to get fairly decent bass out of quality full-range bynines. But like anything else...it's in the install.
