Monoblock,or 2 Channel amp?????

Hey,

I have a truck that I want to put 2 10"Infinity subs into.They are 2 or 8 ohm,dual voice coil,and are rated for 250watts.I've been given advice to purchase a 2 channel amp,but I don't know what company,or model.Same goes for Monoblock amps.Can I get any guidence from anyone???I'd like to spend round $200.00 if I can.Thanks.

2 or 8 means they're dvc 4's.

Generally, the point of buying a mono amp is because most of them are class D, which makes them more efficient than the typical 2/3/4 channel class a/b. However, at only 250w efficiency isn't that important.

That being said - when running a single sub a 2 ch amp works best bridged into a 4 ohm load -- since your options are 2 or 8 you're looking at a mono amp again - since many of them run best at 2 ohms.

What's your budget?

You could get a profile for less than $100 that would do a decent job, or you could get something really nice from kicker/alpine/JL that would cost 200-300.

Edit:

After a quick check I found the Kicker zx300.1 on sale at onlinecarstereo.com for $145 shipped - that's an excellent price for a very nice amp.
