I got mono my freshman year of college, right during Finals.

It was hell for me, for about 3 days. It wouldn't have been so bad, but my tonsils swole up incredibly. For 2 days I literally almost couldn't eat. I went back to another doctor the 2nd time and they gave me a steroid shot for my tonsils. They said if the swelling didn't go down I'd have to go to the hospital. I had to breathe through my nose for about 3 days. The next day after my shot the swelling of my tonsils went down, and i slowly recovered and believe I was hunting again on the 4th day following the shot.

Besides my tonsils, what sucked was the fever. I only got up to about 102 for the 2-3 worst days. All i wanted to do was sleep. Thing is, after a nap of 2-3 hours, I'd wake up to soaking wet bed sheets from my fever.

All in all, it was about 3 terrible days for me at its peak.

My brother got mono just 3 weeks later. He took it a lot worse than I did. He ran a 103 fever for 4 days. One day it actually hit 104. My mom is a nurse and came down to take care of him. Now my brother was prolly 25 at the time, and really needed my mom there. Mono kicked his *** for about 2 weeks. He lost something like 15lbs. I lost 8lbs if I remember correctly.
