Mono Sub

To answer you question, yes you want it to be a mono signal. You dont want 1 sub playing left and 1 sub playing right.

This can cause phase and cancellation issue and in severe cases damage the subs suspension since each sub is working agains the other.

You can just as easily bridge the 2 channels to make a 2 channel a mono combined signal.

As far as rca go it doesnt matter. As long as the rca carries the full frequency range the sub will play it will be fine.

This assumes you arent time aligning things as that can too cause phase issues.

Most radios these days have 4 or 6 rca outs.

On a 4 set you get
Front
Rear/sub

On a 6 set you get
Front
Rear
Sub these are essentially identical outputs

If your radio only has 5 outs the mono signal can normally be ran straight to a single input of the amp. But its pretty common to use a splitter to fill both amp inputs.

Depends entirely one your amp.

What amp? What ohm load?

What ohm loads are all your voice coils? Dual 4 dual 2?

How many subs.

If you can wire to 4ohm you can usually bridge most 6, 4, and 2 channel pairs. If lower than 4ohm you will likely need a new mono channel amp
1 4 ohm DVC sub
1 class D amp mono channel but 4 outputs for bridging down to 1 ohm.

Just wire all the positive and negatives to the amps terminals that gives you a final load of 2ohm and you amp. The mono amp is mono output having 2 positive and 2 negative terminals is just for ease of use. They are connected internally so each 2 positive are actually 1 and 2 negatives are 1.

No. A Dual 1 ohm subwoofer will only wire to 0.5 or 2 ohms. 4 dual 4 ohm subwoofer will wire to 1 ohm or 4 ohms. Again it's still a monoblock...

I get it. I'd never run a tone through at full tilt to test just how much they can take before it goes all willie nelson either 🤣

I had two Skar amps (4ch & a monoblock) go bad within a year. Post #2 is an excellent recommendation.
