Mono Block or 2-Channel AMP

i have 1 pg rsdc 12 2 ohm sub in a 1.17 seald box, have not done the big 3, stock battery, im running 4ga wire to the amp...

the MB Quart DSC5001 "Discus Series" Mono Block Amplifier is 500 Watts RMS at 1ohms

the MB Quart DSC2150 Discus Series 2-Channel AMP is 600W x 1 rms bridged at 4 Ohms

what one would be the best for a dayley driver for my wife ? would the 2-Channel 4 Ohms be better on my stock alt. and stock head unit ? or the 1ohm ez'r on it ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

The 2 ch will normally have a cleaner signal but will pull more current. I say just go with what ever you want. There will not be a huge difference in the amps and the amount of power you are talking about won't really affect the car that much.

500w and the 600w
proably not. Thats at a point where its probably unaudiable. And the bass knob may be a nice extra addition, but bass knobs typically just distort the sound if misused, so i wouldnt use that as a selling point

power has to double to gain 3dbs. So the ~100w difference will not be noticed much if at all. And as far as efficiency, the MB Quart 500.1 and even 1000.1 are also A/B like their 4 channel amps i do believe.

Bass knobs are very convenient.

I would go with the 2 channel. That way if you decide to upgrade the bass later you can use that 2 channel for the midrange possibly...

I would also look at where you are putting it. In my experience my mono block amp runs cooler then my 4 channel does. Do not know if this is my setup or what, but if your putting an amp under the seat or something it might be something to consider.

Also, if you go the bass knob route.... just set the bass knob to halfway. Adjust the amp gains properly. That is what I did in my wifes car. She turns it down when she rides... I turn it up. And setting it with it already halfway allowed me to stay close to the right readings on the DMM (aka digitial multi meter) when I set the gains to help prevent clipping. A scope would be better obviously, but I do not have one of those, lol.
