Mono amps

I was checking out mono amps and saw something about 14.4 volts or some similar voltage. Will they run off of stock alternator/battery? Do they need some strange power source? Am i just retarded and read something wrong and they hook up like any other car audio amp?

Just to add to that im looking to push one infinity perfect 10.1d sub, im assuming a mono amp would be a good choice as opposed to a 2 channel bridged or something, any amp recomendations for that sub anyone?

amp will be fine, juss upgrade wiring and big 3. and u should be set. i'd look into an orion 600d. great amp and if u decide 2 upgrade another 1, they are strappable.

what's basically saying is that the amp will produce it's rated rms power at 14.4 volts. if it gets less current it will produce less power. most cars run at 14 volts. you can always do electrical upgrades if needed.

you'll be fine as long you install it properly.

14.4v is what most cars run modern days. however, some cars are built differently and use less/more electrical sources (more work on the alternator). therefore, when you hook up a decently high watt amp and let the bass hit, the voltage goes down (typically 12.8v for me on my small 70amp alternator). because of voltage drops, i dont think ill never see the true rms watts as claimed.

thats why its a good idea to upgrade your electrical system and whatnot. *big-3*

What is the impedence on the voice coils? If it's a dual 4 then you would end up with a final load of either 2 or 8 ohms. In this case, yes, a mono amp the puts out somewhere between 300-500 watts rms at 2 ohms would be ideal.
