Mono Amp recomendation

I have a guy that owed me some money for some time... He had a 13w7 JL well to make a long story short the sub is now mine along with a nice ported box. I just hooked my son up with new infinity speakers 6*9, 4*6 and 1" tweeters and a sony headunit. We also put r blox throughout the car in anticipation of getting him something better in the future as far as sub/amp combo and also ran 2 Kinetik HC800's. Needless to say we have secured a badarse sub. He has been using a weak sony xplod 12" and xplod amp. He does not know I have picked this up and I am going to give it to him.. I want to surprise him and have everything ready to hook it up.. I used all 4 gauge wires and stuff when we hooked up the other 2 amps so I am ready just need a new amp and we r good to go.. I re-did his system for xmas and do not want to drop $600 on the JL 1000.1v2 amp so was wondering what a decent one would be for 200-250.. I know many claim 1000watts at 1 ohm but most do not deliver. What would be a good choice for an amp..

you can get a hifonics bxi1208d for under 200$ on ebay. it probably won't do 1200, but you should get 1000 rms from it.

I have seen some people rip on maxxsonics stuff here though and was not sure if it would be a good choice. I did however use the crunch 900.4 for the 4*6 and 6*9 speakers and it seems ok so far.

Wow, Those are some great amp suggestions.

Too bad the 13W7 has 1.5 dvc's. So aan amp that does whatever at 1 ohm is not going to work.

You need an amp that does around 750-1000 watts at 3 ohms. Or an amp that produces 1000 watts at any ohm load, such as the 1000/1 or an alpine pdx. Some PG amps as well.

So before you Buy that crunch amp, do a little more research...

If you were to get an AQ amp, Audioque 3500D is what you would need. 750 watts at 4 ohms, so say maybe 900-1000 at 3 ohms....

Edzy, what is the price on that amp you are refering too? I was trying to stay under 250 shipped if I can.. I have been told 750 rms to this sub sounds sweet even...

you need to remember the w7 wires to 3 or .75.. so you need an amp that is regulated or one that has higher that what you want at 1..

I have a rockford t1000.1bd and it does 13xx with ease.. that w7 would see 1300+

for 215 shipped

with imp rise you will see full potential out of the amp

Sub is used so I guess a used amp if all is well would be fine.. Like I said I kinda fell into this 13w7 had not planned on anything else for him until his BD in May.. I am excited though to hear this badboy myself LOL...

really...have you personally tested that amp at any load lower than 1 ohm? because every rockford amp i've had would not run below 1 ohm without going into protect or frying.

one last thing, The AQ 1200 may run at .5 ohms, I dont know anyone who is doing so, but i know a few ppl doin it on the aq2200 daily at .5 with out problems.

**** I am gettign even more confused LOL. Wow seems like a hard choice.. I guess the best choice would be save up for awhile and get him a 1000.1 JL? The phoenix though I would have no problem with?

its a soilid amp.

The Alpine PDX is about the same price as a 1000/1.

Both can be found on ebay for about 300 or so.

That Rockford does not meet the needs of that sub, imo.
