Mono amp boat question.

The goal is to power two tower box speaker setups for a friends boat, each box take 450rms at 4ohm. My question is since it doesnt matter so much if each box is its own channel if running a mono amp for both boxes would work and what effect that would have on the impedence being drawn?

So basically two boxes wired at 4 ohm each.

The amp is a diamond D61500.1 which is 1500x1 @ 1ohm and I am not sure what it puts out other wise... but I would just want to know if that would work.

Thanks.

do you already have that setup? if not i would seriously scrap it. dont buy pre-fab fiberglass boxes either. they tend to have some serious issues. go with lightning audio accessories cans or wakeair unless you have one of the top boat audio guys build you a tower box.

Already have the setup.. Two 8" driver and a 6" horn.

New question is what will the PG RSd 500x4 put out power wise at 2ohm x2?

Power Output

(RMS @ 4ohms and ≤ 1% THD+N)

78W x 4

Signal to Noise Ratio

(reference: 1W output @ 4ohms)

85dBA

Addtitional Power Output

(RMS @ 2ohms and ≤ 1% THD+N)

118W x 4

Frequency Response

20Hz-20kHz

Effective Damping Factor

(@ 4ohms)

6.35

Maximum Input (at clipping)

8.5V

Maximum Sensitivity (at clipping)

200mV
