I got 2 12" L7's in a prefab slot port box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif and my subs dont hit any low notes. how would I make the tuning of the box LOWER??? Makeing the ports Longer or shorter. this is same subs and box I have

I will build a new box someday when I find out what the best box is for real low bass.

My slot ports are like 2.5" wide 15" high , is that to much port for low notes?

so if I want my box tuned low I need a narrow port??????????????? my box is tuned in the mid to high 40's

I know I may sound dumb but it is still ealey

making the ports longer will lower the tuning but will also take up some of the airspace. Most likely your prefab is already a little on the small side so making the port longer may not gain you much in the low end.another way to lower tuning is to make your port area smaller.you could take a piece of 3/4" mdf the heigth and length of your port and glue or screw it to one side of the port, thus taking out 3/4" of your width so you would be going from 2.5" x 15" to 1.75" x 15 " or said another way go from 37.5 square inches of port area to 26.25 square inches of port area .That will drop your tuning but lose you some output. You could also seal off the ports all together and just run them sealed which should bring you some lows but again at the expense of lost output. You really just need to build or have somebody build for you a proper enclosure

^^X2 that's a definite.... while it is completely possible to mod a prefab box for your application you'll probably never be able to get the results you're looking for.... for every modification you could make to that box the cons will probably be worse than any pros you could get... there's quite a few guys on here that are really reasonable about their prices on designing and building enclosures, you may even have someone close to you, that's most likely going to be your best option....
