Dropped my car off at 10am, with a Brutus in the trunk and a Sony on the seat.

Car was supposed to be done at 2:30.

Here's the timeline, from when I showed up.

3:30 - My faceplate is missing.

3:45 - "You guys do custom glassing?" 'Yeah, our best installer - the guy who did your car, actually - is the one who does it.' "Cool."

4:00 - Random installer shows up with it, took it by mistake

4:10 - I get in my car. The deck isn't installed. "wtf."

4:30 - Deck installed. I snap in the faceplate;

5:00 - I bring the manager to my car. "Put this CD in," I say. He presses open. The face doesn't flip down. Because the mounting bracket is in the way.

5:30 - They bring me my keys, again. I was supposed to be at work at 4. I hop in the car. It's in the same place, with the same problem.

5:35 - I inspect the rest of the careless install, and find:

That's broken trim. In my Audi. See those wires? That's a 4ga amp lead AND my RCAs.

5:40 - "Wtf. Fix this. This install was supposed to be done three hours ago."

6:00 - "This mounting kit isn't right - we'll have to trim it. We'll do that for free, since you've waited so long."

They'll dremel my mounting kit. For free. As some sort of bonus. Yippie.

I blink, twice. And then I walk out. I'm two and a half hours late for work when I get there.

In the parkinglot, I take a look at the deck;

It's installed BEHIND the mounting kit.

$149 dollars and seven hours later, this is what I end up with.

Mobile Electronics on Morse Rd. in Columbus, Ohio is a miserable establishment that FAILED.

Failed.

They failed to install a headunit.

Failed.

I just can't make any sense out of it. How does a professional audio shop fail to install a headunit in 7 hours, AND break my trim.

thats a sad deal mad ide be deffeneltly pi**ed..ive did all my installs mydself except this last one D300 cuz i realy didnt feel like messing with it plus free install when i bought it and the intaller who did do it worked at the shop for like i think he said 7-8 years and i tell ya i was and still am very impressed with the work done...but ide cancel payment and try to do it your self im sure theres a few poeples here that could/would help out with any questions

This is why you do it all yourself so you dont have to complain about it later saying they scrwed everything up.
Yeah, I expected at least ten replies that say the same thing.

But, without a professional install reciept, there's no warranty on anything installed; So I thought I'd be smart, shuck out a few bucks, and enjoy that warranty;

That'll teach me not to be a cheapskate.

A break that size in the trim isn't just 'brittle plastic,' it's somebody being careless, shortcutting, and trying to pull the piece out while it's still attached.

=-\ I did ask for install help / disassembly instructions, but all I got was sarcasm.

"Just get a screwdriver and start pulling;"

Guess that's the MECP way, huh. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I'm definately considering a stop-payment; I haven't had to do that before, and I'm not sure how well my shitty bank will handle it. I mean, services were in fact rendered - just very poorly.

I'm not a lawyer, but; I never signed anything saying the install was satisfactory, or for that matter, anything except my visa receipt. Any insight? There *is* a sign there, that disclaims responsability for broken parts; but don't they have to confirm that with me? I mean, just because they have a document on the wall / under the desk / in a drawer / wherever, does that obligate me to agree to those terms?

I __knew__ I should've done it myself. Rawr.

as an installer i have broken a few trim peices but every time i have i have ordered the new peice (myself) before the customer ever knows its broken and when they show up i tell them and work out a deal where i go to them to put it back in. i only broke 2 chevy truck trims under the door (the locking clamps locked a wee bit too good) in older cars i understand where they are coming from if the car is over 5 yrs old the plastic becomes brital but i dont see how that peice broke there it almost seems as if they forgot to remove a screw or just lifted it out from 1 end. either way thats their fault. contact your local B.B.B. as well. find out how much that peice costs as well. if they dont take some sort of reasonable accountability and it proven as such they have no business being in business.

that usually motivates them to fix the problem //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
That, and I'll be slandering them immensely, and posting **** photographs of their wives on the internet until they fix the problem : )

The car is over five years old, but the size of this break is about 4 inches. That's not just brittle plastic, that's being a lazy ***, and not prying the piece out near the clips.

I'll bet if I take a look, there's no clip within 4 inches of that break; Which suggests that the last clip on the trim wasn't pulled before they attempted to remove the piece.

Which is unacceptable.

I pulled the trim out of a weatherbeaten 88 Beretta without breaking it. That's nearly 20 years old, and probably never garaged.

Please continue to post about how pissed you'd be, demanding your money back, and having the trim replaced, so when I take this printout in, I can plunk it on the counter, and let them know how widespread my dissatisfaction spreads itself.

Thanks, guys.
