with an active set up, u can run 2 amps to the speakers, one for the mids and one for the tweeters. AND you can set up the crossover points a lot better with an active crossover.

Passive is when one amp is powering both speakers. The powered signal from your amp goes to the passive crossover (usually comes with the speakers) then it splits it into the mids and highs

Thanks for both reply, am i correct t say bi amping means passive?

the reason why i was confused.

My installer tell me if i wanna run active with Hertz Mille MLK 165 Comp Speakers(which come with ML28,MLK165 and MLCK20).

I will need crossover box(MLCK20) for better perfermance. and MLCK20 act as bypass.

in fact,i already send a email to Audison, but no one reply yet.

in normal pratice, we need not crossover box for active setup, crossover will done by headunit. does anyone know more about MLK165 system? give me advice?

i dont understand you. If your HU is going to act as an active crossover, then there should be two RCA 2-channel outputs, one for the mids and one for the highs. From there you can add two amps, one for each, and wire ur midbass to one, and the tweeter to the other one.

With a passive set-up, you won't need to set up any crossover points as the crossover box provided with the speakers will take care of that. All you'd need is an amp to power them.

Also, i have no idea what good crossover points are for those speakers, but i'd suggest no less than 3.5Khz

Hey. i do agree with you, i also searched all over the world. Active setup need not corssover compents.

but think with MLK165 , we could run three types crossover.

1.Passive crossover

2.Active without crossover

3.bi-amp

I am not which method is best, as now i already get two units of Vrx2.150. maybe bi-amp VS Active

Ok it is not the same.

If you use the passive bi-amped or not, you will still be limited to the cross points set by the passive crossovers. I think the reason Hertz wants customers or recommends us to use the passive is to protect the speakers. This helps cut downs on returns do to customers not truly understandings how the use the speakers. I have never came across a speaker that could not be ran active.

Running fully active, no passive will allow you more tuning options, meaning freedom of crossover points only limited by the processing unit you use.

Make sense. they want to protect speakers.
