got a pair of the older MJ's. Single 8ohm each. Going to run them sealed for now. Will 4cubes per sub be ok? I know that they will be louder ported but i just want to try a basic sealed setup first. Will be using 1000watts @4ohms.

Do you mean that there wont be enough power to them? Thats why i wanted to go a lil bigger than recommended because lack of power. They will be going in my Suburban, subs facing the rear.

1000 watts for both right? Even with that, I doubt you can mess them up in a sealed enclosure. Just listen to it and if it bottoms out then turn subsonic filter up a little. I have 1 new MJ-18M in 11 cubes with 700 watts tuned to 20hz and subsonic filter is at 16hz I think. No problems. I watch movies mostly so I gotta watch out for the extremely low frequencies.

I didnt think that the subsonic filter had any affect when using a sealed enclosure. Think one ported will be just as loud as the 2 sealed?And yeah, 1000watts for the pair

It depends on the size and the power you send to the subs and what type of stuff you are playing. But yeah 1000 watts for both in 4cubes each is alright. Just letting you know if you get into problems then you can use the subsonic filter if you have it.

cone area for the win. i would say the sealed pair with a 1000watts will be louder then the single ported with 500watts

No, they defiinitely came in 8 ohm svc at one point.

nah, they did make them in 8ohm svc. dont think the new MJM's are though.

It's going to be fine, probably sound pretty good assuming the box is solid.

oh yeah, box will be sturdy and solid. Will even double baffle.
