my question is that ive heard that your not susposed to mix wet and drycell batteries in a battery bank, for example yellow top (drycell)under the hood and some everstarts(wetcell) in the bed of my truck. why arnt you susposed to mix them couldnt think of any real reason why they shouldnt be mixed, or can someone clear this up for me.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

They work fine, but tend to rest at different voltages.

Wet cells like to sit lower then most dry cells do, or it may be the other way around I can't remember.

i have a battery connection that can get me batterys for free but they dont have dry cells only wallmart brands (wink wink) like everstart ect. and i thought it would be better to run a bunch of free not as good batterys then having expencive good batterys and way way fewer. thanks for the help

First off, Optima and other AGM batteries are not dry cells. A dry cell battery would be an alkaline or NiCd. All automotive batteries (except hybrids) are lead acid batteries. All lead acid batteries are wet cells.

Now your question is should I mix a flooded battery with an AGM or Gel battery. The answer is no you should never mix battery types if possible. Flooded batteries rest at 12.6v and AGM/Gel rest at 13.0v. The lower voltage batteries will drain the higher voltage batteries in a short time.
