alright i have a question:

My girlfriend works at a bank and has for the last 2 years. she likes her job as a teller but cant stand the people she is working with. so she has been job searching. the main issue here is that her branch manager mistreats employees. she has them go above and beyond the job duties. but the thing is she only has the two out of the 3 do it. neither complain they do as told. but when she got word my gf was looking to leave she has been singling her out and just being mean to her. She is a harsh woman and my gf is very intimidated by her. this woman has brought my gf to tears and still continues to bad mouth her. is there anyone my gf can contact to make this stop, or is it all up to employer. The bank president does nothing when confronted about this either.

clif: gf treated like shit at work by boss, boss wont stop being ***** and president of bank doesnt care. how do we make it stop without murder or prison time? thanks CA.com

this is a small bank. the bank wouldnt work right if someone walked out. they have to pull from the other branches to fill spots. and no one will come because boss lady is bish. she had another girl in the same spot like 3 months back and the girl did walk out.

is that all you can really do?? i dont really know. i would stand up for myself and tell them to stop but she isnt like that. so is it ok for the boss lady to do this with no consequences?

Well the short of it is she can have her do just about anything she wants.

As manager for a very large company I can have one person do just about anything in the office I want. Even if she is doing more then anyone else.

She is there to work and the manager’s job is to ensure the work flow is moving properly. The only time she can really do anything is if she is being asked to do something that is physically more then her job description calls for :IE lifting 50 pound boxes all day, Or if there is verbal abuse. IE: name calling and or provable trash talking in the office. That would create a hostile work environment which would be actionable.

Now if this is a private small town type of bank your chances of being able to do anything about it get even harder. This is common practice just to run someone out of a business to avoid unemployment. Also if they know she is looking for another job it can be considered a conflict of interest and they could let her go with paid notice. But then she could file unemployment which is why they are going about it the other way

alright thank you ampresearch. thing is, my gf put in her two week notice last thursday and the lady is still being a *****. maybe this lady just isnt manager material. but i get how this shit works now.

yeah you can have your employees do what ever you want them to do within reason, but why choose only a few of the bunch to be the work hogs? Im sure she wouldnt mind as much is the work load was spread evenly. Thats only fair, no reason to single someone out.

And if you do have a top performer that you can rely on more to do more stuff, hopefully their pay rate will reflect that. If they are all making the same pay, there is no reason to subject one person or a couple people to do all the extra work. it needs to be spread evenly IMO.

they all make the same amount and they all have the same job title. the two that get the "extra" work are mid 20's the lady who doesnt is mid 30's. all three have worked there about 2 years. the assistant branch manager has complained to bank president too with no results so im thinking that its just a lost hope to see any changes for the better. i just thinks its corrupt for boss people to be able to do this shit.

agreed.

I hate that shit. treat people equally, or dont expect much out of them! atleast pay them for the extra work they do, bump up their salary.

GL with your situation, time to find her a new job.

Why would you put in your 2 week notice, a company I was working for was treating me shitty (retail store so what do you expect) so I turned in my 2 weeks and they expected me to go above and beyond on everything during those 2 weeks so the first sunday that I worked I just left at lunch. (some other suckers had to go push carts lol)
