misaligned coil, Still playable?

I'm sure my SX has a misaligned coil, Can i still use it? It only makes that sound at low volumes. I just talked to a local shop and i could get it reconed for cheaper than them fixing it, But i dont feel like spending that money... And the fact i dont have that money.
