Looking at an ED 4 channel so I can go active but it only outputs 65watts x 4 @ 4ohms. Is this seriously underpowered for my pioneer 6.5" revs?

My rev's seem to not really use much of what my us amp capable of 100 X 2. Gains pretty low but haven't use a DMM so can't be sure.

Try not going by where your gains are set at either as it is not a volume control, but a matching control to match the input signal with the amp. If you have a high voltage pre out deck, then your gain control should be low. Just my thoughts.

Peace, Lee

i'd say have 50+ watts per tweeter and AT LEAST 100 watts per mid. i currently am running 100 watts per tweeter and 200 watts per mid. you can never have too much.

Eh.

Remember with an active setup, you are giving the power to the speakers DIRECLTY. You don't have to deal with a passive xover and the components eating up power at all.

I like having headroom and all, but an active setup is a more efficient use of power than a passive setup. And tweeters don't NEED 50w to scream, most don't need over 25w...

Mids on the otherhand, I like to give plenty of power... and have headroom.

That's why I prefer having TWO 2channels as opposed to a single 4channel.

or you could get a staggered 4 channel. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif 100x2 and 200x2 both in the same amp is sweet!

i would like to say that i have a butt load of headroom. but i do still see my clip light flash ever so slightly occasionally.

IMO, it's all about level matching with your ears. Forget what the DMM tells you.
yessir! you gots it!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

BTW: here is a thread i started a while ago on DIYMA.com asking how much power everybody is running. this may help you. some of them are a little crazy and running an *** load of head room, so much it's just nuts. but it might be a good read for ya..... http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27730

Well yes, but there is a much smaller selection of those //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
