Don't care about the price, but you can't compare your services to theirs.

They have to charge more for you because of overhead- and the fact that they have to pay rent on a building every month.

wasn't really the question. the question was, if that shop was charging WAY more then other shops even.

Ok- I gave a reason as to why a shop in general charges what they do.

Some shops are overpriced as hell- but sometimes, just sometimes, the saying 'you get what you pay for' holds true in the car audio industry, specifically custom shops.

whichever of these three you are, it don't really matter. From what i've gathered, it'd be about 100bucks worth of material for a job of ~that size but i'm sure atleast double that should be bought to make sure you have enough after the experimenting.

2)- Yes, they are abnormally large... It truly is genetic. My mother is even larger... all-be-it, I have never had a man complain.

3) - There are so many guys in this forum and so few women. Can I not have a little fun and be sarcastic with some of the guys I know on here? Don't be such an a$$hole and get over yourself.

I was guesstimating about $150.00 to $200 in material including the mdf, etc.

it shouldn't cost more than $500 tops IMO. they are just jacking up the price on you. you're a "mark" for them. tell them you're gonna go down to the other shop if that's the best they can do, and then start to leave. if they care, they'll cut their price.

day rate for FG work, FTL. A project should be billed hourly. I'm sure that's not the ONLY thing that person would do all day.

Thank you... I was willing to fork over more than that for what I want. I did state that it sounded rather high and that I had done some research but he didnt seem to care or want to do the work too bad. Oh well, I will submit myself and my work to more scrutiny and start a build log -- soon, I promise. Gotta round up supplies.

i'd only find the bolded part true if you are talking about her doing it, and for the rest well it's dead on. maybe offer them the 1200 you were willing to pay for it and if they refuse then just leave.

LOL! I like your attitude... I have a single sealed box for one Antique JL12W4 that Im currently using. (that I think I fried last night. It only plays at high volumes or if I push on the cone while it is playing...like there may be a short in the VC or sumpthin.)
