Might As Well Bend Me Over My Trunk!

So, I went out this weekend to a few of my local audio shops (Boise, Idaho) for an estimate to build a wheel well enclosure for two 12" Subs that would be raised slightly above 'floor' level, and angled to the rear corners of my vehicle. (Based on my expirements with my current single JL sub.) I told him I would take care of the Amplifier mount and have all the tubing/channels run for my wiring, etc. AND, the enclosure was to be left bare, I prefer to cover it myself since I am going to do some other MDF/carpet work in the trunk.

Now, I charge $10-15 per hour for specialty electrical and plumbing labor, (the industry standard usually starts around $30 +/ hour). So, I assume 8 hours a day at $30/hr = $240.00 / day times 5 days = $1200. Not too bad really, for what I want.

I lost faith in this guy when he started telling me it would take six days or more and he would charge $400 per day for the labor--I had to buy all the parts (FG, resin, etc) -- According to this man (whom observed my breasts more than my trunk!) the install of JUST the enclosure, would start out at a minimum $2400.00, paid up front, thank you ma'am.

How does this compare to FG work done by shops across America? (pricewise)

I feel the quote I received is abnormally high.

I have been reading the FG threads on here and of course at fiberglass forums.com and I'm pretty sure I am going to have to do this myself. I have faith in me...lol!

Anyone comin' to Idaho anytime soon and wanna play with fiberglass?

just don't start a box building business //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

learning how to fiberglass i think is well worth the trial and error involved, atleast IMO, which is why i'm gonna start praticing soon myself.

Anything that comes out of a car audio shop is going to be expensive. Doing it yourself will save you on labor fees, and you'll have peace of mind knowing you did it yourself. Besides gaining knowledge on how to fiberglass is priceless.

**** it!! I got all excited bout the topic .....nevermind! nothing to see here. another false alarm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Anyways... I am not going to port it or anything. It will be two sealed chambers each aprox 1.18 cubes (according to peanut measurement and cardboard seperator) including sub displacement.

I agree, it is worth the experience even if I flub it up... what would, or should, something like this cost to have one of ya'all build it? Just curious. Puttin ideas together for a winter build.

nope...no pics either...lol... imagination is a wonderful thing!

soooooo, either

1) your fat

2) you have ugly unportionate tits

or 3, my personal fav) your a lieing attention *****.

whichever of these three you are, it don't really matter. From what i've gathered, it'd be about 100bucks worth of material for a job of ~that size but i'm sure atleast double that should be bought to make sure you have enough after the experimenting.
