midbass ?

i know that subbass is universal and you can have it not aimed in the right dirrection but with midbass drivers im still not sure what the difference is because iv seen 6.5 subwoofers and 6.5 midbass. and is midbass universal so i can put them in the trunk with the sub or should the be in the back windows where there exposed to the inside of the car?
