Midbass?!?!?!?!?!?!!?

I typically don't come around and ask alot of questions anymore but, my midbass from my Boston pro60's is seriously lacking. I am thinking about adding some tangband 6x9s or even 6.5's but im pretty sure that I wont have enough space for a sealed in a door-pod.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Try flipping the phase (change the + and - wires around) on your passenger side midbass. Also, you will mostly likely have to deaden and seal off the doors to get any real midbass out of the door speakers.

i didnt get any real midbass til i went from about 50rms to 110rms per door...

i picked up a set of mpyre 6.5ms and wow!! they sound amazing have them set to play 65-120ish iirc pg rsd like 115 and up ish

The 3 most important things to worry about to get good midbass is: Instalation, instalation, instalation.

You must turn you door into a speaker cabinet.

1) Deaden the doors with lots of dampening material. SecondSkin or whatever material you can get.

2) Seal the doors to prevent bass freq's from getting to the front of the speaker which would cancel the bass.

3)Soildly mount the driver on MDF ring, panel or fiberglass reinforce to prevent the transfer of energy to the sheet metal door.

4) Use plenty of amplifier power to drive the door speakers. Head unit power is worthless. A good external amp with the crossover set around 65 - 80 Hz Highpass.

Look at some threads on how to deaden and install door speakers.

I run mine 50-135hz. Provide ample power and they will destroy a door, LOL.

Could also try making door pods for your current speakers, throw lots of power to them...
