midbass

Ah yes, then we are on the same page here. I've heard some "high end" audio systems that consist of only front stage, and you can tell that the sound is coming from in front of you. If you turn your head so one ear is pointing towards the front of the car, and one towards the back, the ear pointing towards the back isn't getting near the level of sound that the front one is getting. At concerts, it isn't like that. No matter which way you turn, you still hear music. I always prefer a little bit of rear fill. It sounds more "full" to me.

nΩΩbx?
Seriously, they've all sounded like ***. Didn't sound full at all. Some even had multiple mid ranges and tweets in each door.

I guess it really boils down to personal preference. I prefer to have SOME rear fill. Not alot at all, just some. I should take the meter to my front and back to see just how much of a loudness difference there is between the two.

Considering this is car audio....I would be severely concerned if someone is driving their vehicle with "one ear pointing forwards and one ear pointing backwards".

That's like saying "yeah man, your home stereo sounds really good if I'm in the same room with it, but it doesn't sound nearly as good if I stand in the Kitchen "

I would guess that the "high end" setups you were listening to, weren't really all that "high end" in actual sound quality. I've heard some setups that, equipment wise, should have sounded good....but they didn't because the installer/owner didn't have a clue on how to properly setup the stereo.

Like mentioned on the previous page, bridge that amp. Headroom is your friend.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Specifically JL Audio. It was some really expensive 6.5"s but they were horrible. There were amped and what not, but still just didn't sound that great at all. Heard some Focals too, pretty good, but still was lacking fullness. These setups might have sounded fine to you guys, but I just have a differen't preference. When I hear a really good sounding front stage setup, maybe I will convert over, but until then.

I wasn't saying that people drive around with their head turned sideways, I was just trying to point out that there is an empty area in back of you and you can tell its there. Not everyone likes rear fill, thats cool.

Look man, everyone's trying to save you some time, effort, and frustration.

Unless the 'high end" stereos you heard were installed like this:

door3.jpg

then brand names, price, reviews, and reputation don't mean jack shit

you don't buy nice speakers, and instantly have them sound great

it's no different than buying a $1600 solo-x and being disappointed that it barely made sound because you didn't put it in a box, or put it in a piece of shit box.

Just because replacement door speakers magically fit in the stock speaker locations does NOT mean that's the proper way to install speakers, do you honestly think that your car manufacturer really cared how great the factory speakers sounded?

So before you keep running your mouth about the high end systems you've heard, and how you can't make a front-stage supply full sound by itself, reconsider who you're arguing with, some of these guys aren't just "the guys in your neighborhood" or the "locals" that boom bass at kmart on friday night, and talk on their cell phones.

unless you know for a fact that your friends know what they're doing when it comes to PROPER installation, then you haven't heard shit.

2 half ***-installed pairs of speakers are not, i repeat are NOT, a replacement for one properly installed set.

You can waste your time and money if you want, but when your system sounds like compelte ****ing ***, you can thank your bullshit artist friends, and go shoot the shit about your sweet midbass rear fill to the dudes at best buy. but these guys are (read:were) trying to help you.

lick my sack

Nice install.

Like I said. When I hear a good front stage system, I may start doing front stage only. Their aren't many car audio enthusiasts around here though.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif I'm still in the early learning stages too.

Just curious, what speaker is that in that pic?
