just bought the kicker nd25a tweeters and needed someone to suggest 6.5 inch mids to go with them.

opinions on the tweeters...worth building comp set around? saw them on ebay for a good price and bought them on a whim.

Get the Peerless Exclusive 7" and thats all you need to know. One of the best if not THE best midbass driver you can buy. All for a cost of about $150.

X2 on the peerless. You could also look at the seas but generally run a little more. Great for the price and will not disappoint look at Dayton's.

While I will agree that they are a mighty fine driver, the above statement is bit of a stretch. It's also very subject to personal opinion.

To be fair, I won't say that it's not a good suggestion though.

To the OP, I suggested the Mach driver as a low cost solution to an experiment. Output is clean and linear up to about 4000 hz. That makes it useable with a wide range of tweeters. It's also only about $20.00 as opposed to $75.00 for the Peerless. If you're not quite sure what you're doing the Mach is a great start. Especially if you're delving into an active setup for the first time.

The active crossover that DejaWiz linked to will work just fine. Take that crossover, the tweeters you now have, the MLI-65s, and you'll have a surprisingly nice sounding setup that will compete with component sets much, much more expensive.

The only issue with running active is you'll need another amp dedicated to either the mid or the tweeter depending on what you currently have.
