Well thats the problem, the rockfords dont even go as low as the kickers...and im not all too fond of putting subs back in my truck, seeing as how its a 93 nissan pickup, standard cab, and anyone here who has seen one (cant go down the street without seeing like 5 here lol) you know the cab is TINY. Max is like 6" depth with seat scooted up, and i want to keep my seat scooted back which gives like 4" depth and like .4 foot^3 for a box on each side.

So if possible i'd like to keep my jl out and maybe just replace it with some smaller subs like 6" or the ones i listed up there. i know its not a replacement for a 10", but a little bass is enough....so if i was to use these for bass alone which one should i picK?

My last setup was a kicker 850.2 and 2 s10l5's. I took it out due to size restrictions, and traded some for my 360 and a bunch of accessories. I still have my oldest one, a 10" jl and alpine amp. So, subbass and midbass.... not sure what the diff is. I want something to replace the *sound* of my old subs...so which one do i need?

You would need about 4 of those 6.5" subs to approach a pair of tens, and you will have to do a lot of work to insulate the doors and they still might rattle anyway.

Another option is those shallow mount subs... I think they make tens and twelves... Earthquake makes them, and I think Pioneer used to have them, not sure if they still do.

You are looking for subwoofers then, not midbass.

Midbass is higher in frequency. Subbass is usually considered to extend up to ~80hz in frequency, midbass from ~80hz to 350hz in frequency. And not all small-format subs are inherently good at playing midbass frequencies just because they are small.

But as was mentioned, you may want to look into shallow-mount subs. They are the new hot ticket for manufacturers, and most either offer them currently or have them in their product lineup to be released in the very near future.

Kicker, RF, Pioneer, Clarion, JL Audio, Kenwood, Critical Mass, Earthquake, TangBand, Blaupunkt and TC Sounds all either have a shallow mount subwoofer or have one that should be released in the near future. And that's just what I could think of off the top of my head.

I did mention it....when I mentioned the Tang Band //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
hhahahahah!!!

squeak got here first.

just because a speaker is small, does not mean it will play high frequencies.

there are subs *ahem*idq*ahem* that can extend well into the midbass range //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

/fanboy

but that is neither here nor there. so go get some subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
