Midbass in rear ??

I have the JDM Crx rear bass tubes in the stock location.

Would it be a good idea to put in some 6" midbass speakers in there ?

I currently have some 5.25" JBL coaxials in there for rear fill..

Well, midbass is localizable, and thus mounting it in the back would tend to pull the front stage rearward. But some people would rather have the frequency response they want than to have an accurate sound stage.

Technically, no you shouldn't. Realistically, depends on your priorities and ability/will to put the work in to mounting midbass drivers in the front.

It definitely will in the midbass freqs. The problem is it will tend to pull your attention to the rear, just like when your subwoofers are low passed way too high. The worst part is, rear mounted midbass tends to be added to increase the midbass presence. But the more rear midbass presence you have, the more it draws your attention to the rear, and tends to smear the front stage as a whole.

But again, some people just say "feel that chest thumping bass" and wouldn't care if the entire front stage was actually in the rear. Follow your personal preference, but educate yourself to understand the sacrifices being made before making the decision.

But if you turn them down much it sort of defeats the purpose of setting up rear midbass drivers, two extra amplifier channels, xovers, etc. It least it does to me.
True, but if you have two spare channels of a 4 channel open, might as well use them. I actually ran some Kicker MB8's right behind my front seats, firing up and ported towards the front of the cabin...sounded decent, but it did draw the stage a little more to the rear than I'd like. Killer midbass though.

Ive done that as well. I eneded up preferring the rear-fill setup better (bandpassed xover, @ 500hz-4.5khz iirc, and attenuated). But to each their own. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
MB8's are solid midbass units. Id probably have some myself if I didn't have a gaggle of IDQ8's already.
