you know those little things used to block things from hitting the cone and such? do they work or are they more of an interference on the subs outward movement? i want to use one in my bronco but i dont wanna screw up my sub either

a little more explanation please.. lol i use my bronco hard and have recovery tools in the back i just dont want to mess up a sub when i finally get it in there

Your question really makes no sense. Why would someone install a speaker grill if it was just to inhibit the cone's outward motion? Not only would this limit speaker performance, it would potentially cause damage. Yes, grills are just for protecting the speaker cone. And no, they generally dont harm performance unless installed improperly.

well i am not a huge audiophile so i am still learning as i go. as far as why would people do things that are detrimental.. people do it everyday, that's why i am asking questions about it, so i don't fubar my sub

Oh and btw, if you feel the need for real protection for your speaker, I would not recommend the SoundStream spider type. IMO its 60% looks, 40% effectiveness. Notice all the large gaps in it a screw driver or other relatively small item could fit through. If you want function over form, hit up partsexpress.com and order one of the fine mesh type grills.

my biggest thing is just making sure my "footlocker" doesn't slide into the sub. as all of my tools goes in that, so im not really needing a fine mesh
