Midbass Comparison

Ok.... Forget anything above say 300hz. Which component set out of the following has the best Midbass in the 70hz on up range.

- Morel Rennaisance SR-6.2.

- Diamond Audio S600 (hex series)

- CDT HD series 6.5s

- Focal 165W (utopia)

- Image Dynamics CXS64 (chameleons)

- MB Quart QSD 216

- Dynaudio System 240 MKII

- JL Audio XR650-CSi

And yes, I do realize there is no substitue for checking them out with your own ears, but not ONE dealer in my city stocks a single one of these models that I am aware of... maybe the image dynamics or the JL... but that's it.

Forgot to add... they'll be going into a custom door pod. I could leave it free-air, but more likely it'll get sealed (not sur ewhat volume as the pods have not been designed yet).

dont forget the dd 6" woofers...also, adire has a new set comin out...the midbass those have should SERIOUSLY kick ***...they have more linear excursion than many subwoofers from a few years ago...something like 7mm (one way), whereas most midbasses are 2-3 mm.

DD? I'm assuming you mean digital designs? I have heard the name tossed around but never seen them in town nor for sale online. I can only assume that that means they are super expensive (either way, a link to a supplier would be interesting).

The other thing to keep in mind is that this will be a component set (not a dedicated midbass driver). I thought about going with midbass-mid-tweet, but I swung by and took another look at the car and there will NOT be room. A solidly built custom doorpanel will be all I can possibly fit without totally ruining my options for 1/2 decent imaging.

actually, im not sure where to get the dd...and yes i believe it means digital designs. from what i recall, they werent ungodly expensive. as for the ones from adire, they ARE a component set. really well built, just like all their other stuff. should go on preorder (if not sale) in a week or 2, and if theyre like ANYTHING else that adire sells, they are a steal at 349.
