Metering Positive vs Negative leads??

I'm referring to correct polarity here...I have a Jetta MK IV. I'm trying to figure out which leads on my factory head unit are positive and which are negative. Some people say some wire(s) were misplaced and other pictures/schematics don't add up to what I have.

Can't you meter the wires and see if the reading is positive or negative meaning you have the right leads on the right wires, positive to positive and vice versa?

lol no. Audio is AC. This means that if you're playing a 1000hz tone, positive and negative alternate 1000 times per second. Just get the harness.

As long as all the wires going to the speaker have the same polarity, you're okay.

The thing is my plug does not match what this picture depicts:

Left Rear + Input 37 BK

Left Rear - Input 38 WT

Right Rear - Input 40 BN

Right Rear + Input 41 BK

Left Front + Input 43 YW

Left Front - Input 44 BK

Right Front - Input 46 GN

Right Front + Input 47 BK

The harness will not work if my plug is incorrect, think about it. I only need the front outputs so,

The picture states pin 46 should be RF- (GN) and pin 47 RF+ (BK) but mine is reversed from this. If I use a harness, it would assume 47 is BK + but mine is GN.

I don't know if I should go with color as polarity or placement.

How can I figure this out?

Well I ended up buying the tools from Walmart, 2 sets, pulling the radio and getting the correct wire color/placements from the back of the head unit itself. Turns out in my case the GN wire is in the wrong location at the plug (pin47) in the rear. All colored wires are + and the black wires - regardless of pin location.

Maybe it has something to do with the Monsoon amp inputs themselves needing this pin correction??
